6-night cruise: £1430.00 per person
An idyllic cruise for the month of October, exploring the sheltered waters of the Sound of Mull and the sea lochs of Linnhe and Sunart. October is still warm and often very calm and bright, with the autumn colours providing breathtaking scenery. There is lots of wildife around and the evocative sound of stags rutting in the hills.
Typical Cruise Highlights
- Duart Bay: Drop anchor to the dramatic backdrop of Duart Castle, keeping an eye out for dolphins and otters. Go ashore to explore the castle and nearby Torosay House and gardens.
- Tobermory: Sail the Sound of Mull to the charming town of Tobermory with its historic buildings, speciality shops and opportunities for woodland walks.
- Loch Sunart: Cruise the small islands of Oronsay and Canna where seals, porpoises, otters and many birds are frequently seen, at the entrance of Loch Sunart.
- Island of Lismore: At the mouth of Loch Linnhe, the Island of Lismore has many historical features.
- Shuna Island and Castle Stalker: The tiny Sound of Shuna is a picturesque anchorage, with the opportunity to visit Castle Stalker and the nature reserve there, home to many species of duck.
- Corran Narrows and Loch Eil: Cruise Loch Linnhe with the majestic Ben Nevis reflected in the calm waters. Go ashore at Inverscaddie Bay or perhaps to remote Loch Eil, with a good chance of sighting otters, sea ducks and many other birds.
Getting to Oban: If arriving by train to Glasgow, there is an excellent (and scenic) train route from Glasgow to Oban. If driving, cars may be left in secure paid parking in Oban. If flying to Glasgow Airport, pick-up is available from Glasgow International Airport at 12 noon for transfer to Oban Bay by car. There is a cost for the transfer, which takes around 2.5 hours each way. Alternatively you may wish to take the Glasgow to Oban seaplane which boards at Glasgow at 1.30pm and arrives in Oban Bay less than one hour later
