Crew Report for Whole Boat Charter 6-night cruise

departing April 2nd 2011 from Holy Loch

The first dinner on board anchored off Carrick Castle in Loch Goil was enhanced by sightings of a Golden Eagle, Seals and Porpoises. We reached the Isle of Bute by Sunday lunchtime, with more seals and porpoises spotted. We anchored off Rothesay with a trip to fabulous Mount Stuart. Sunday night was anchored in remote Loch Riddon. On Monday morning we enjoyed a coastal walk to Tighnabruiach and anchored in tranquil Blackfarland Bay on Bute for lunch. We then cruised to the fishing village of Tarbert on West Loch Fyne for a walk ashore to explore the village and the dramatic ruin of the tower built by James 1V in the late 15th century. Monday night was spent in Loch Gair on West Loch Fyne. During the day we were delighted to spot an otter and birds seen included merganser, goldeneye and Canada and Greylag Geese. On Tuesday we cruised the length of Loch Fyne to Inveraray where guests explored the town and then back down the loch to anchor off Otter Ferry for the night where more porpoises were seen. On Wednesday the Glen Massan headed off for the Island of Arran, making Lochranza by lunchtime and a visit to the distillery there and spending the night anchored off Lamlash. On the Thursday morning guests walked from Lamlash to Brodick, spotting a Golden Eagle on the way, where the boat met them for lunch. An exploration of Brodick Castle and Gardens followed, with further visits to the speciality food, drink and aromatics producers in the town. The boat then headed for Millport to anchor for the night and guests took the opportunity to cycle around the Island. On Friday morning the Glen Massan headed back to Holy Loch with further sightings of Porpoise on the way.
The weather was the poorest in April but did nothing to spoil the enjoyment of the guests .
